Okaloosa Work Camp Evacuated
CRESTVIEW, Fla. — The Florida Department of Corrections announced the evacuation of inmates from Okaloosa Work Camp following damage sustained to the facility during a local weather event (suspected tornado).
There were no injuries to staff or inmates. Due to security infrastructure that was damaged, all 269 inmates have been relocated to nearby facilities until repairs can be made.
Inmate locations will be updated on www.dc.state.fl.us within 24 hours.
As Florida's largest state agency, the Department of Corrections employs 24,000 members statewide, incarcerates approximately 96,000 inmates and supervises nearly 166,000 offenders in the community.
