FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

FDC Assault Advisories | February 12– February 18, 2020

This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty. All assaults are investigated, and disciplinary action is imposed in accordance with policy.

Santa Rosa Annex: On February 12, Inmate Jared Stephens (F00517) assaulted an officer by striking them in the face with a homemade weapon. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Lowell Annex: On February 12, Inmate Moniqua Brown (163970) assaulted an officer by striking them in the head. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Calhoun Work Camp: On February 12, Inmate Anthony Giovengo (J80422) assaulted an officer by slapping them across the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Calhoun Work Camp: On February 12, Inmate Michael Edme (899856) assaulted an officer by striking them in the head with a closed fist. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Suwannee Correctional Institution On February 13, Inmate Travis Higgins (G60707) assaulted officers by biting their hands. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officers and noted injuries.

Century Work Camp: On February 13, Inmate Christian Lee (G26057) assaulted an officer by striking them in the shoulder with a closed fist. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Union Correctional Institution: On February 15, Inmate Genard Chestnut (130146) assaulted an officer by striking them in the torso and cheek. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Central Florida Reception Center: On February 16, Inmate Nicholas Stanley (V44666) assaulted an officer by striking them on the shoulder. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Sumter Correctional Institution: On February 11, Inmate Darrell Singletary (305126) assaulted an officer by throwing a trash can at them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Madison Correctional Institution: On February 17, Inmate James Cobb (M33009) assaulted an officer by grabbing their arm. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Jefferson Correctional Institution: On February 18, Inmate John Chestnut (197339) assaulted an officer by striking them in the torso. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Century Correctional Institution: On February 18, Inmate Jamal Harris (V48395) assaulted officers by pushing and striking them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.
