FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

FDC Assault Advisories | February 19– February 25, 2020

This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty. All assaults are investigated, and disciplinary action is imposed in accordance with policy.

Florida Women’s Reception Center: On February 19, Inmate Christina Rial (M28679) assaulted an officer by striking their wrist. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Madison Correctional Institution: On February 20, Inmate Eric Romaine (H11739) assaulted an officer by striking their hip. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Charlotte Correctional Institution: On February 21, Inmate Jonathan Lugo-Rosario (X73047) assaulted an officer by scratching their hand with a pen. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Walton Correctional Institution: On February 21, Inmate Cody Hynum (A52043) assaulted officers by striking them in the face and forehead. Medical staff examined the officers and noted injuries.

Tomoka Correctional Institution: On February 21, Inmate Calvin Sampson (066682) assaulted an officer by striking them in the mouth. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Union Correctional Institution: On February 21, Inmate Thomas Berry (T70898) assaulted an officer by kicking them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Suwannee Correctional Institution: On February 22, Inmate Luis Torres (M46024) assaulted an officer by striking them in the torso. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Florida State Prison: On February 23, Inmate Lucas Tomsic (P70252) assaulted an officer by striking them in the chest. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Lake Correctional Institution: On February 23, Inmate Lafrederick Staples (P38040) assaulted an officer by pulling their fingers while being escorted. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Lancaster Correctional Institution: On February 24, Inmate Bobby Thomas (N31007) assaulted an officer by running into him. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Santa Rosa Annex: On February 24, Inmate Ronald Lyles (135552) assaulted an officer by headbutting them in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Wakulla Annex: On February 24, Inmate Jahmal Charles (X35534) assaulted an officer by striking them in the torso. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.
