Visitor Contraband Interdiction | October 13 – October 19, 2022

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has zero tolerance for contraband of any kind, and visitors attempting to introduce contraband are subject to suspension or termination of their visitation privileges and arrest.

Okeechobee Correctional Institution On October 15, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of 196 grams of cocaine and 141 grams of marijuana during a pat search. The visitation was terminated. The visitor was arrested.

Columbia Annex: On October 15, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of a firearm and 12 rounds of ammunition outside the institution. The visitation was terminated.

Okeechobee Correctional Institution:On August 25, staff observed a visitor attempting to pass contraband to the inmate. That included 56 grams of cocaine and 3 grams of methamphetamine. The visitation was terminated. The visitor was arrested for possession of narcotics.
