Media Invitation to Inmate Program Graduation
Wakulla CI to host a graduation ceremony for inmate students earning Faith and Character Certificates and GEDs.

WHAT: Media are invited to attend a program graduation at Wakulla CI in Crawfordville. The graduation ceremony is held in the chapel of the prison with some graduate’s family in attendance. Certificates will be awarded to inmates who have completed the Faith and Character program or earned a GED.

Media attendees can take photographs or film throughout the event and will have an opportunity to interview consenting graduates and FDC leadership following the ceremony.

WHEN: Friday July 15, 2022 at 8:00 A.M. EST Media should arrive no later than 7:30 a.m. for processing through security and equipment set up. Late arrivals cannot be accommodated.

WHY: The Faith and Character Program consists of an array of courses focused on personal growth and character development. The program aims to reduce recidivism and disciplinary infractions by offering faith-and character-based programming in a positive environment. In addition to the Faith and Character graduates, eight inmates are graduating with their GEDs. Aligned with Florida Department of Education curriculum standards, FDC’s academic program consists of traditional coursework leading to a high school diploma equivalency.
