Accreditation Team Inviting Public Comments Concerning the Office of the Inspector General at Florida Department of Corrections

The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) - Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) was initially awarded accredited status by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. (CFA) in 2015 and was reaccredited in 2018. Attaining re-accreditation by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation will demonstrate the OIG continues to meet the highest professional standards for the conducting of investigations.

A team of Assessors, comprised of Law Enforcement and Inspector General professionals, will arrive August 19, 2021, to examine all aspects of the OIG - Office of State Investigations procedures and written directives, operations and support services. This examination will include a review of written materials, interviews, and conducting observations to determine continued compliance with CFA standards.

During the on-site assessment the general public is invited to offer comments to the assessment team during regular business hours via telephone (850)488-9265. Comments should address the OIG's ability to comply with CFA standards. A copy of the standards is available on the commission website at: http://www.flaccreditation.org/smig.htm.

After the assessment a final report will be submitted to the CFA Commission for a panel review and recommendation to the full CFA Commission for a determination of re-accreditation.

For more information regarding the CFA, or for persons wishing to offer written comments about the OIG's ability to meet the investigative standards, please write to:
