Thursday Visitation Canceled at FDC Incentivized Facilities


TALLAHASSEE, Fla – Today, the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) announced the cancelation of visitation for all incentivized facilities for Thursday, September 29, in response to Hurricane Ian. Impacted facilities include:

  • Everglades Correctional Institute
  • Jefferson Correctional Institute
  • Lowell Annex
  • Madison Correctional Institute
  • Marion Correctional Institute
  • Sumter Correctional Institute
  • Tomoka Correctional Institute

FDC staff throughout the state are working to prepare facilities for the potential impact of Hurricane Ian. Available staff resources will be devoted to emergency preparedness and response efforts.

FDC looks forward to resuming normal visitation at these facilities as soon as possible. To receive visitation updates, please text “FDCVISIT” to 888-777.

Individuals are encouraged to visit the Department website or social media channels prior to contacting individual institutions. Frequent updates regarding visitation and office closures will be posted on Facebook, Twitter and www.dc.state.fl.us.

In the event of an institution evacuation, announcements will be made upon completion. Inmate locations will be posted on the website approximately 24-hours after relocation, per standard protocol.
