This program is sweet! Inmates learn about beekeeping thanks to a new inmate re-entry program in conjunction with the Florida Department of Agriculture.  As part of the program, inmates learn how to maintain a colony of honey bees and collect honey.  After completing the program and release from prison, the inmate has an immediate job prospect with a commercial beekeeper.

Programs are located at three facilities:

  • Jefferson Correctional Institution
  • Lancaster Correctional Institution
  • Lowell Reception Center
  • Big Pine Key Road Prison
  • RMC (Reception and Medical Center)
