From South and West: From I-75 take Exit 427 (US-90 East) through Lake City to Hwy-100. Turn east and go 21 miles to Lake Butler, turn right on 231 south for approximately 2 miles.
Historical Information: This facility was established in 1968 to house male inmates. Originally named the Reception and Medical Center, the primary functions are to process newly committed male inmates into the state correctional system and to provide primary medical care to inmates within the state system. There are two other units located at this facility (The RMC-West Unit and the RMC Hospital). The RMC-West Unit has a capacity of 999 inmates. The RMC Hospital is a licensed 120 bed hospital for acute care. RMC also maintains a 28 bed unit at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. RMC Work Camp was established in November 2006 to house male offenders. It is under the supervision of RMC-Main Unit, and is one of several units involved in filling the primary mission of RMC along with RMC-West Unit and RMC Hospital. RMC Work Camp has a maximum capacity of 432, with a staff of 78 (this number is included in the Total Staff listed below).
