Historical Information: Central Florida Reception Center opened in August of 1988 originally as Orange Correctional Institution. Orange C.I. was opened as a close custody, adult male, program oriented institution. Before OCI was fully functional, the mission was changed to a reception center, and thus the new name of Central Florida Reception Center. Today CFRC houses male inmates. Bridges of Orlando, Orlando Work Release Center, Kissimmee Work Release Center, Orlando Transition Center, The Transition House, Inc., Brevard Work Camp and Cocoa Work Release Center are under the supervision of CFRC.
