The Bureau of Staff Development and Training is the catalyst for personal, professional and Departmental development, empowering the Agency and its people to exceed traditional boundaries. The Bureau consists of Institutional / Community Corrections Support, and Program Development. We will be lifelong learners, accepting our responsibilities, challenges and necessary changes with a willing attitude as required. The functional areas are divided into the following: Emergency Operations, Field Training, Re-Entry, Correctional Officer Training Academy and our profession.

Bureau Goals:

• Provide the most effective Training Programs possible for the staff of the Florida Department of Corrections.
  
  • Addresses the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to meet the mission of the department
  • Ensures the health and safety of department employees, as well as the inmates/offenders in our custody.
• Provide field personnel with professional training services with emphasis on safety, leadership, accuracy and cooperation.
• Maintain professional standards.
• Assist other Departments and outside Agencies whenever possible.
• Be innovative.
