Video Production

Video Production provides video production services for public information, staff information, inmate information, staff training, and inmate training. Services include content development, script writing, video production, videotape editing, control room and audio recording booth supervision.

Florida residents may directly obtain copies of the department's videotapes for the cost of duplication, and shipping.

The following video tapes were produced by the Florida Department of Corrections.

Chicago-Based Gangs in Our Nation's Prisons

Examines the issue of gang awareness and methods for detecting gang activity within a correctional institution. Provides a background of Chicago-based gangs which have migrated throughout the United States. Illustrates the tattoos, signs, and symbols which separate gangs from one another. Hand signs are briefly covered and illustrated as another means of communication for gang members. Depicts the over-all mentality and philosophy of gangs. Recruitment is covered as well as what characteristics a gang looks for in perspective members. © 1997

Life Inside: Violence Prevention

This vivid behind-the-scenes look at prison life is geared toward educating our youth about the harsh realities of life behind bars. Youthful offenders tell their stories about the trials that landed them in prison, the freedoms they lose while behind bars, & the difficulties they'll face returning to society after their incarceration. Aimed at keeping young people from ever entering the correctional system by deterring them from illegal behavior such as drug use/sale, violence, etc.. © 1993
