The National Institute of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance corrections option grant, funds the Bradenton Drug Treatment Community. The treatment facility provides a comprehensive three-phased treatment and educational program to severe and chronically addicted youthful offenders. The state of Florida provides 25 percent matching funds. This unique program is a joint effort between the Department of Corrections, Operation PAR, and other community-based providers. The program consists of three phases: Phase 1 is six months intensive treatment and education, Phase 2 is three months work release and treatment, and Phase 3 is nine months aftercare while the offender lives and works in the community.
