Facts about Time Served...

  • The average amount of time served for all offenders released in FY 2000-01 was 36.8 months or 82.1% of their court-imposed sentences.

  • In the last month of the fiscal year (June 2001), offenders released from Florida’s prisons were serving an average of 82.8% of their court-imposed sentences. (Offenders with offense dates on or after October 1, 1995 are required to serve a minimum of 85% of their court-imposed sentence prior to their release.)

  • The average percentage of sentence served for released offenders has much more than doubled in the last ten years, from 34.0% in June 1991 to 82.8% in June 2001.
