court-imposed sentences. (Offenders with offense dates on or after October 1, 1995 are required to serve a minimum of 85% of their
court-imposed sentence prior to their release.)
- The 29,082 inmates who were released from prison in FY 2003-04 served an overall average of 36.6 months or 85.1% of their court-imposed sentence
- The average percentage of sentence served for released offenders has increased significantly in the last eight years, from 71.2% in June 1997 to 84.9% in June 2004.
