Age of Prison Admissions

  • The average age of inmates was 33.5 years, and the largest age group that was admitted was ages 20-25 (24.4%).

  • The average age of women who were admitted this year was about one and one-half years older than men (34.8 versus 33.3).

  • Of the inmates over the age of 50 at admission, Miami-Dade County sentenced the most, 284 or 8.3%.
