Community Supervision Population

Total Prior Commitments by Type of Supervision

Probation: 107,760

Probation is the single largest category of community supervision, comprising 71.8% of all offenders on supervision. Three-fifths (61.6%) of those on community supervision on June 30, 2011 for probation had no prior commitments to either state prison in Florida or state supervision in Florida.

No Prior Commitments: 61.6% | Prior Supervision Only: 25.0% | Both Prior Prison and Supervision: 11.2% | Prior Prison Only: 2.2%


Drug Offender Probation: 17,088

Of those offenders on Drug Offender probation on June 30, 2011, almost half of the offenders had no prior commitments (48.4%) compared to about a third who had prior supervision only commitments (36.1%).

No Prior Commitments: 48.4% | Prior Supervision Only: 36.1% | Both Prior Prison and Supervision: 14.0% | Prior Prison Only: 1.5%


Community Control: 10,678

Of the offenders on community control on June 30, 2011 37.3% had prior commitments of the supervision type only, and also 44.4% had no prior supervision or prior Florida state prison commitments.
