Bill Thurber

Bill Thurber assists the Secretary in supervising the activities of top management staff in the department, in addition to acting on his behalf in the Secretary’s absence. He was appointed to the position of Deputy Secretary in May 1991. Thurber has been with the department for 20 years, serving most recently as Assistant Secretary for the Office of Management and Budget for seven years before being appointed Deputy Secretary. Thurber’s vast knowledge of the budget process, finance and administrative services makes him an invaluable asset to the department.
