The office of health services contributes to a safe corrections system by maintaining high inmate health standards. Medical conditions left unattended pose grave consequences to a safe environment for inmates, staff and the public. From initial in-processing, to end-of-sentence release activities, the medical staff coordinates and cooperates with security staff in all areas.
Successfully addressing the medical needs of some 71,000 potential patients daily is a tangible example of the humane atmosphere created by the office of health services. In prison, we attempt to improve personal responsibility regarding individual health. Typically inmates have little regard for their health prior to entry into the system.
