In the last month of the fiscal year (June 2000), offenders released from Floridas prisons were serving an average of 80.9% of their court-imposed sentences. (Offenders with offense dates on or after October 1, 1995 are required to serve a minimum of 85% of their court-imposed sentence prior to their release.)
The average percentage of sentence served for released offenders has much more than doubled in the last ten years, from 33.1% in June 1990 to 80.9% in June 2000.
