Cross City Correctional Institution is proud of its Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT) members for their selfless participation in the Gilchrist county leg of this year's Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics of Florida. Our CERT Team took time from their schedules on April 11 to run with members of Lancaster CI and the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office in an effort to assist the children and adults who benefit from the services of the Special Olympics.

During April, law enforcement personnel from all over the state ran to support Special Olympics. Over 2,000 miles were traveled along four planned routes ending simultaneously in Osceola county and the city of Kissimmee, in conjunction with the start of the Special Olympics Florida State Summer Games.
Other staff members of Cross City CI assisted the Special Olympics by purchasing T-shirts. This year's institutional T-shirt sale raised $300 to aid the Special Olympics. This money, combined with the money raised by other correctional facilities throughout the state, will go to support over 15,000 deserving children and adults.
