Demographics of Sample Respondents versus State Population

Below the age and the gender of the sample are presented along with the same characteristics of the state population as a whole to provide a profile of the sample and to determine if the sample is similar to Floridians in general. Demographics for the state of Florida came from the Florida Legislature Office of Economic and Demographic Research.

Gender of Respondents

The sample is adequately similar to the general Florida population in terms of gender. The sample was similar to Florida's population in terms of the percentage that were male (sample=40.2%, state=48.6%) and female (sample=59.8%, state=51.4%).

Age Groups of Respondents

The sample is adequately similar to the general Florida population in terms of age. The average age of the respondents was 45.5 years; they ranged from 18 to 89 years old. The percentage of the sample in six age groups was similar to the age distribution for the entire state population.
