• Inmates released from prison in March 2003 served an average of 82.5% of their sentences.



• 1,876 (83.3%) of the inmates released in March 2003 had one or more sentences that fell under the minimum 85% of sentence served law.

Older Inmates

• There were 7,486 inmates age 50 or older in prison on March 31, 2003. This is an increase of 12.4% since last year (6,658 inmates on March 31, 2002).

Escapes

• The last escape from a secure perimeter was in April 2000. No inmate has escaped from a fenced, secured perimeter for three years.
