Older Inmates

• There were 7,584 inmates age 50 or older in prison on April 30, 2003. This is an increase of 12.5% since last year (6,744 inmates on April 30, 2002).

• The last escape from a secure perimeter was in April 2000. No inmate has escaped from a fenced, secured perimeter for three years.
