Florida Department of Corrections
Michael D. Crews, Secretary
Of Note this Month...
- This month, the DC initiated a statewide plan to recognize DC employees
called to active duty as a result of 9/11 and the war in Iraq by selling "Flags
of Freedom" pins statewide. So far, $45,000 has been collected, and the
proceeds will be divided evenly among employees affected. Each family
has already been sent $20 phone cards with 220 minutes on them so they can
call their loved ones.
- There are 293 correctional officers and probation officers and other DC
staff members currently on active duty in the Army, Army Reserve, Florida
National Guard, Navy, Navy Reserve, Air Force and Air Force Reserve and
approximately 386 DC employees with immediate family deployed.
