That the DC website has won numerous awards and gets more that 43 million hits a month?
Since its inception in 1995, the Florida Department of Corrections’ website has received 21 awards for its quality, content and ease of navigation from well-known organizations such as Yahoo, Microsoft and USA Today. The Inmate Population Search, where individuals can look up particular inmates' offender information and location, is the most popular section, accounting for almost 40% of the pages viewed each month. Combined, all offender searches (Supervised Population, Absconders, Escapes, Releases and Inmate) account for more than 84% of the pages viewed each month. In May 2003 alone, the website (www.dc.state.fl.us) had 43 million hits from more than 200,000 visitors, which means once they get to the website, they stay for a while to browse! Incredibly, this site is maintained by a staff of only three, who work closely with application programmers, systems server staff and network specialists.
