In FY 2002-03, 32,714 offenders (unduplicated) participated in community substance abuse treatment programs, compared to 32,426 the previous fiscal year.
Of these, 5,354 (16.4%) participated in residential treatment programs (Nonsecure and Secure) and 27,360 (83.6%) participated in outpatient treatment programs.
For FY 2000-01 (last year of data availability), based on a two-year follow-up to initial program entry, 2,054 of the 3,599 offenders enrolled in residential programs (57.1%) and 10,382 of the 16,309 offenders enrolled in nonresidential programs (63.7%) successfully completed the program (excludes enrollments with administrative exits).
