In FY 2002-03, 32,938 offenders (unduplicated) participated in community substance abuse treatment programs, compared to 32,426 the previous fiscal year.
Of these, 5,613 (17.0%) participated in residential treatment programs (Nonsecure and Secure) and 27,325 (83.0%) participated in outpatient treatment programs.
For FY 2000-01 (last year of data availability), based on a two-year follow-up to initial program entry, 2,047 of the 3,591 offenders enrolled in residential programs (57.0%) and 10,378 of the 16,301 offenders enrolled in nonresidential programs (63.7%) successfully completed the program (excludes enrollments with administrative exits).
