Older Inmates

• There were 8,051 inmates age 50 or older in prison on October 31, 2003. This is an increase of 12.2% since last year (7,173 inmates on October 31, 2002).

Escapes

• The last escape from a secure perimeter was in April 2000. No inmate has escaped from a fenced, secured perimeter for more than three years.
