that the FY 2002-03 Department of Corrections annual report is on the web at www.dc.state.fl.us/pub/annual/0203?

Did you know that it costs $17,297 a year to feed, clothe, and house an inmate at a major prison in Florida? Or that Florida's 2,600 probation officers collected over $82 million in cost of supervision fees, victim restitution and other payments from those on supervision in FY 2002-03? Did you know that 43.8% of those admitted to prison in FY 2002-03 had been in Florida prisons before, and that 19.0% of inmates in prison on June 30, 2003 were serving time for a drug offense? These and other facts and figures about the Florida prison system, such as the table on the race and gender of death row inmates, are now available on the web at www.dc.state.fl.us/pub/annual/0203.
