The department is requesting funds to convert the last group of institutions to the Centrex phone system. The current phone systems at these facilities are old, unreliable, difficult to expand and extremely costly to maintain. The Centrex phone system has several advantages which include all new, reliable equipment and the system is easily expandable. In order for the department to proceed with the conversion, the funds being requested are for a recurring monthly fee and installation of equipment. This request will fund installation at the following facilities: Apalachee, Avon Park, Century, Desoto, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lake, Martin, Okaloosa, Polk and Zephyrhills.
