The department is requesting additional funding for the projected increase in the contract cost to operate Region IV health services.
An Invitation to Bid (ITB) was released on October 27, 2005, for comprehensive healthcare services in thirteen correctional institutions in Region IV for an effective date of January 1, 2006. The contract was awarded and implemented. On August 21, 2006, the department received a Notice of Termination from the contractor, and subsequently re-bid the Region IV contract for health services.
The department projects the cost of the new contract at approximately $12 million more than the projection based on the current contract.
