The department currently has over 150 probation and parole offices statewide, of which the majority is leased through private vendors. The department is working with the state's tenant/broker representative, the Staubach Group to secure these leases. Over the past several years, increased rental rates have been held to approximately 3% statewide, based on market analysis. The only funding increase has been associated with the few DMS leases that are in effect.
Therefore, the department is requesting $1,333,156 in community corrections to meet the leasing needs of probation and parole offices statewide. This request is based on actual lease cost for the past three years and projected costs for FY 2006-07 and FY 2007-08.
