Monthly Status Report May 2000 Community Supervision Population Summary

This Monthly Status Report provides a brief profile of Florida's community supervision population. The supervision population consists of all offenders on supervision through specific court placement or other assignment to a community-based program as a condition of prison release. The overall population on the last day of the month is broken down into status types of Active, Active-Suspense, Out of State and Absconder.

Supervision types are divided into Original Sentence, Post Prison Release and Other Supervision Types. As of May 31, 2000:

• 149,479 offenders on Active or Active-Suspense Community Supervision
  • 143,218 Original Sentence
  • 6,241 Post-prison Release
  • 20 Other Supervision Types
• 616 offenders on electronic monitoring
  • 280 Radio Frequency
  • 336 Global Positioning
• Region III has the highest active supervised population with 35,420 offenders
• The average Probation sentence is 3.8 years
