Community Supervision Population Summary

This Monthly Status Report provides a brief profile of Florida's
community supervision population. The supervision population
consists of all offenders on supervision through specific court
placement or other assignment to a community-based program as
a condition of prison release. The overall population on the
last day of the month is broken down into status types of Active,
Active-Suspense, Out of State and Absconder.
Supervision types are divided into Original Sentence, Post Prison Release and Other Supervision Types. As of July 31, 2000:
- 149,454 offenders on Active or Active-Suspense Community Supervision
- 143,172 Original Sentence
- 6,259 Post-prison Release
- 23 Other Supervision Types
- 541 offenders on electronic monitoring
- 202 Radio Frequency
- 339 Global Positioning
- Region III has the highest active supervised population with 35,004 offenders
- The average probation sentence is 3.8 years
Previously the Electronic Monitored population had been reflecting all Status types, Active, Active-Suspense, Out of State and Absconder. Currently the only offenders counted in the electronic monitored population are the Active and Active-Suspense. This report now also includes a breakdown of the Active and Active Suspense population by region and circuit.
