Glossary of Terms

ENROLLMENT TERMS
Number of New Enrollment Events in the Program During the Year This is a count of the total number of enrollment events in the program during the fiscal year. It may include duplicate observations per inmate.
Number of New Inmates Active in the Program During the Year This is a count of the total number of new inmates who entered the program during the fiscal year. This number is unduplicated by inmate within program type.
Number of Different Inmates Enrolled in the Program During the Year This is a count of the total number of inmates who participated in the program at any given time during the fiscal year. It is computed by taking the population enrolled in the program on July 1st and adding to it any inmates who enrolled during the fiscal year. This number is unduplicated by inmate within program type.
Number of Inmates Enrolled in the Program on June 30th Also referred to as a status population, this is the number of inmates enrolled in the program on the last day of the fiscal year. This number is unduplicated by inmate within program type.
EXIT TERMS
All Program Exits Successful Exits + Unsuccessful Exits + Administrative Exits
Successful Outcome/Exit A type of program outcome, where the exiting of a given course or treatment is due to the following exit code: CMP (COMPLETED)
Unsuccessful Outcome/Exit A type of program outcome, where the exiting of a given course or program is due to the following exit codes: RMV (REMOVED) and REF (REFUSED); i. e., did not complete for some reason other than an 'administrative' exit.
Administrative Outcome/Exit A type of program outcome, where the exiting of a given course or program is due to the following exit codes: DRP (DROPPED), WTD (VOLUNTARY WITHDRAWAL), RSD (REASSIGNED), NLH (NO LONGER HOUSED), DTH (DEATH), NAM (NON-AMENABLE), EXT (EXIT), NCM (NON-COMPLETER MOVED).
Program Completers Successful Exits; i.e., completed the program
Program Non-Completers Unsuccessful Exits + Administrative Exits
Success Rate Successful Exits/(Successful Exits + Unsuccessful Exits)
PROGRAM TERMS
TIER1 Educational /treatment readiness program/course
MODALITY 1 Intensive outpatient services program/course. Formerly the TIER2 Program
MODALITY 2 Long term residential therapeutic community (TC) services program/course. Formerly the TIER3/4 Program
MODALITY 3 Comprehensive outpatient, relapse, and transitional services program/course. Formerly the TIER5 Program
DUALD Dual Diagnosis; Long-term residential services for inmates with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders.
REMAINDER OF TERMS
Recommitment The percentage of program releases who return to the department within a given time period. It includes returns to prison and community supervision as well as new offenses and technical violations.
Workload The enrollment data for a particular program during a given time period.
