Community Partnerships and Community Partnership Meetings

The Department of Corrections values our partnerships with local communities across Florida. In an effort to enhance our partnerships, and strengthen the dialogue between the Department and communities, we welcome community members, local and state elected officials, volunteers, and members of the media to come and visit our prisons and probation offices when we  host our Community Partnership Meetings.

The purpose of these meetings are to:

• open avenues of communication between correctional institutions and the local communities near where it operates;
• assemble an assorted group of community stakeholders to observe the operations of the institution;
• provide diverse perspectives on the effectiveness of facility operations and programs;
• assist with the recruitment of a diverse and professional workforce;
• help identify what the local institution could do to help improve the quality of life in the community;
• help identify available community resources that could enhance operations of the institution;
• Assist with promoting community awareness and understanding of correctional issues, and institution and department initiatives.

The Department is committed to providing transparency to the citizens of Florida. These Community Partnership Meetings are the ideal opportunity to provide interaction between local communities and the Department  across the state.
