What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication, or, Rich Site Summary) is a technology that provides websites the ability to easily communicate updates. RSS also solves a problem for people who want to stay informed but do not want to continuously check the site for changes. By using any RSS News Reader or News Aggregator, you will be able to retrieve website update notices without visiting the site. A variety of RSS Readers are available for different platforms. Recently, several web browsers (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) have started incorporating RSS news readers. For more information about RSS, visit www.whatisrss.com.

What type of updates will be provided?

The Department of Corrections' RSS news feed contains information about changes currently posted on the What's New page as well as changes to contracts, bid announcments, rule notices, etc. It DOES NOT contain information about inmates or supervised offenders.
