04/04/2011 Brevard CI's Major Harris
Warden
I just wanted to drop a line thanking Major Harris for help he has provided recently.
I'm sure in your position you must see plenty of complaints so I wanted to ensure that when one of the Officers
goes above and beyond that you are made aware.
My son [Redacted] is currently an inmate at Brevard CI and was experiencing a problem obtaining
some personal hygiene items to help control a skin condition that he is receiving treatment for from the
medical staff on site. He just needed some milder soap and deodorant and powder all of which he could buy
from the canteen.
Unfortunately for a series of unrelated issues (Moved from E to H dorm, maintenance work and even my fault for
visiting on a weekend whilst the dorm went to canteen) he was unable to hit canteen.
I called and spoke with Major Harris and he looked into the matter for me. When I called last Friday the Major was
not available so I left a message.
On Saturday when I visited my son he had not obtained the items but as I left visitation I was speaking to Sergeant Washington
(I do have a distinctive accent) when Major Harris approached me. He apologized for not getting back to
me on Friday but explained what had happened. He then spent a good 10 minutes chatting with me and asked me
to leave it with him.
Well the action was immediate! Whilst my wife was still in visitation, my son was spoken to by one of the Sergeants
and told on leaving he was to go see someone else and hit canteen for the required items.
So my thanks to Major Harris for taking the time to see I was there on Saturday and waiting to speak with me personally
that really was unexpected and most appreciated.
Regards,
[Redacted]
