11/29/11 | Thank You based on Experience at Sumter CI Work Camp

Hello,

My name is (name redacted) and my husband, (name redacted) is an inmate at SCI (work camp). Yesterday there was a medical emergency with our youngest son, and he had to have surgery.

I got home late last night and called SCI. I sincerely wish I had had the presence of mind, at that time, to jot down the names of everyone that I spoke to, because from the very first call, down to the Chaplain, everyone was so kind and did not make me feel as if I were intruding on their time or being irrational for calling.

When I was able to speak with the Chaplain today, he was simply the best. After getting all of the information needed to pass the message on to my husband, he took the time and asked how I  was doing. After such a long stressful day of worrying and pacing, my emotions, briefly, got away from me.

Rather than cut the call short, or sound distracted, he offered words of faith and comfort to me. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of the kindness and professionalism offered during this time.

Having a loved one incarcerated, for the first time, at the age of 52,  is still surreal. But, my mind is more at rest after this experience.

With sincerest appreciation,

(name redacted)
