Deputy Secretary

The Deputy Secretary's office handles the operations side of the Department and is made up of the Office of Institutions, the Office of Community Corrections, the Office of Re-Entry, and the Office of Medical & Health Services.This position also assists the Secretary in supervising activities of the Department's executive staff and acts on behalf of the Secretary in his absence.

• The Deputy Secretary assists the Secretary in the formulation and implementation of his priorities through legislation, the budgetary process, and leadership of departmental employees.
  
  
• The Deputy Secretary serves as the liaison and primary advisor to the Secretary on internal and external policy matters.
  
  
• The Deputy Secretary has a leadership role in setting the agenda for the agency and ensuring the agency continually meets its mission.
