Department of Corrections to Dedicate
Memorial for Fallen Employees

Lest we forget,
let us pause to remember
those corrections employees
who have given
the ultimate sacrifice for public safety.
Let us all be encouraged
as we remember and honor
their legacy of commitment,
dedication, and service.
for it is written:
There is no greater love than this, that a person should lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13

Tallahassee - Harry K. Singletary, Jr., Secretary, Department of Corrections will dedicate the DC Employees Memorial on Thursday, November 12, 1998, 2:00 p.m., at Wakulla Correctional Institution, to honor the men and women of the department who have died while on duty.

"Hallowed places like this memorial help us understand duty," said Secretary Singletary. "There is a destiny that makes us brothers and sisters. None goes his or her way alone. Each person remembered here will live in memory, recorded for all to see, read, learn and follow."

Directions to Wakulla CI: Take US 363 (Woodville Highway) South from Tallahassee. Go through the town of Woodville and across the Leon/Wakulla County Line. Turn left off of Woodville Highway on to Commerce Boulevard. Go approximately 41/2 miles on Commerce Boulevard and turn right on Melaleuca Drive. The memorial will be on the left.
