Inmate Dies After
Suicide Attempt

TALLAHASSEE - Inmate William J. Ferran (DC# 138558/DOB: 12-11-57) died this morning after a suicide attempt Sunday.

Ferran, an inmate at Zephyrhills Correctional Institution in Pasco County, was pronounced dead at 8:30 am at East Pasco Medical Center.

Prison staff found Ferran unconscious in his cell Sunday at 5:32 pm with a bedsheet around his neck, and the other end tied around a light fixture in the ceiling of his cell. Staff immediately began CPR and summoned paramedics, who arrived at 5:45 pm. Ferran was transported to East Pasco Medical Center. An autopsy has not yet been scheduled.
