Inmate Escapes from Work Squad

SANFORD - A state prison inmate escaped from a work squad Thursday afternoon.
Minimum custody inmate Eric M. Chapman (DC# 616972) was assigned to a Florida Department of Transportation work squad near the intersection of S.R. 46 and Airport Boulevard. He was discovered missing between approximately 1:30 and 1:45 pm. As a minimum custody inmate, Chapman did not require constant sight supervision by correctional officers.
Chapman was incarcerated at Central Florida Reception Center in Orlando. He was serving a sentence of 1 year and 1 day for burglary and grand theft in Seminole County. His tentative release date was Nov. 6.
The Department of Corrections and local law enforcement are searching for Chapman. Anyone who sees him should call 911.
