DOC Drug K-9s to Graduate
WHAT: Graduation/final day of training for Department of Corrections narcotics K-9 units. Dogs and handlers will demonstrate their skills in intercepting contraband narcotics entering the prison system.
These K-9 units are part of the contraband interdiction section of the DOC inspector general's office. Each dog and handler will be assigned throughout the state. Ten handlers and 14 dogs have completed the program, which takes four weeks for the dogs and three weeks for the handlers. Staff will be on hand to answer questions.
WHERE: Lancaster Correctional Institution in Trenton (Gilchrist County). Directions: Take US Highway 19 south to Fanning Springs; take SR 26 east approximately 5 miles to Lancaster CI at 3449 SW SR 26. Signs will lead the way. Phone number at prison is (352) 463-4100.
