Department of Corrections Mourns Death
of Warden Brenda Rhoden
TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Department of Corrections is in mourning today following the death of Brenda Rhoden, the warden of Dade Correctional Institution in Florida City. She was 39.
"It was with immeasurable sadness that I learned of Brenda's death," Secretary Michael Moore said. "This is a profound loss for her family and the entire corrections community. On behalf of the Department of Corrections, I offer my heartfelt condolences to her family. She will be greatly missed."
Ms. Rhoden died as the result of injuries sustained Sunday in a car accident in Miami. She began her DOC career in May 1979 as a part-time clerk. She was warden at Dade CI since August 1999.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
