Update on Incident at
Polk Correctional Institution

TALLAHASSEE - The three correctional officers injured in the incident at Polk Correctional Institution in Polk City have been released from the hospital and are recuperating at home.

The cell-by-cell search conducted in the aftermath of the incident ended on Saturday morning. It yielded some minor contraband: a plastic knife, razors, scissors, nail clippers, unidentified medications, a metal cigarette roller and extra clothing.

The Department of Corrections investigation into the incident remains open. The investigative report will be released when the investigation is concluded.

The State Attorney's Office will determine any changes against the inmate who attacked the correctional officers.
