Secretary Moore's Letter of Thanks to Governor Bush
May 24, 2001
The Honorable Jeb Bush
State of Florida
Tallahassee, FL 32399
Dear Governor Bush:
On behalf on all Department of Corrections employees, especially our officers, I would like to thank you for your personal commitment and extraordinary effort in obtaining pay raises for our employees. Given the very tight restraints of this budget year, we recognize what a high priority you placed on this issue.
Additionally, we thank you for your recognition of those correctional staff who contributed their service in the past. Due to your efforts and support, many of these dedicated officers will receive a 12% one-time pay cost of living increase. Our officers that qualified for this special risk class who have retirement service credit will greatly benefit them in their retirement. We greatly appreciate your inclusion of correction probation officers in special risk retirement.
With the help of you and Lt. Governor Brogan, our officers received a 4.5% raise, the highest pay raise of any state employee. We appreciate your continued support of corrections and other law enforcement in Florida.
Thank you for recognizing and rewarding our officers for a difficult job.
