Inmate Attacks Correctional Officers
at Martin Correctional Institution

Indiantown - An inmate attacked two correctional officers early Thursday morning at Martin Correctional Institution.

Inmate Foley Pinkney (DC# 040687/ DOB 7/29/57) attacked Sergeant Allison Parker and Sergeant Lora Parrish at approximately 2:30 am. Sgts. Parker and Parrish had ordered inmate Pinkney to place his hands behind his back so he could be handcuffed. The inmate placed his hands behind his back and as Sgt. Parker attempted to cuff him, he swung around with his fist striking her in the face. In the struggle that ensued, Pinkney was able to get the handcuffs and hit Sgt. Parrish in the face with them.

Additional staff arrived and subdued the inmate. Sgt. Parrish was life-flighted to St. Mary's Hospital where she was treated for a large cut to her head. Sgt. Parker was taken by ambulance to Martin Memorial South and treated for a laceration to her jaw. Both officers have been released from the hospitals.

Inmate Pinkney was checked by prison medical staff. He has been transported to the Martin County Jail. The Department of Corrections will recommend to the state attorney's office that he be charged with battery on a law enforcement officer.
