Inmate's Life at
Santa Rosa Correctional Institution

TALLAHASSEE - While making routine checks at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution, Sergeant Daniel Engstrom observed inmate Dennis Asbell (DC# 121171) hanging in his cell. Sergeant Engstrom and Correctional Officer John Jones lifted Asbell, freeing him from the ligature. Inmate Asbell was carried into an open area where he began breathing on his own.

Inmate Asbell attempted to hang himself in his cell using the elastic waistband from his boxer shorts. Inmate Asbell was examined by medical staff and sustained no injuries as a result of his actions.
